Nuvella Labs · Berkeley, California

Safety,built intoeveryday life.

Nuvella Labs is a safety company. We make tools that help people get where they are going, and home again, with more information and more support than they have today. Our first product is live in pilot. It will not be the last.

Choose

Pick where you are going.

Nuvella plans the fastest route first, so you can see exactly what it would cost you to choose differently.

Compare

See the safer way.

It weighs recent incidents, street lighting and street type, and caps the detour so safety never becomes a huge walk.

Go

Move with guidance.

Turn-by-turn directions, an alert if you drift off route, and an Escape button that takes you to the nearest safe place.

Share

Bring someone along.

Start Share My Walk and a person you trust can follow your trip until you arrive. Only when you choose to.

Products

One company. One product, so far.

Safety is bigger than any single app. We are starting where we can do the work properly, and adding to it as we earn the right to.

Safety, in the places Nuvella does not reach yet.

Every product we build will start from the same rules: say what the data can and cannot tell you, ask for as little as possible, and be useful in the moment it matters.

Why safety

Moving through a city is where people are most exposed.

7,080pedestrians were killed in U.S. traffic crashes in 2024.Source: NHTSA, Traffic Safety Facts 2024: Pedestrians
76%of those deaths happened in the dark.Source: NHTSA, Traffic Safety Facts 2024: Pedestrians

Better information at the moment of choosing a street is a hypothesis we are testing, not a result we have proven. We do not claim our products prevent crashes, injuries or crime.

How we work

Three rules we hold ourselves to.

Evidence before claims

If we cannot show where a number comes from, it does not go on a screen or a website.

Estimates, never guarantees

A safety score is a guide built from imperfect data. We label thin data as thin, and we never promise a route is safe.

Privacy by default

Location is used for the trip you are on. You choose what to share, and you can delete your account from inside the app.
